Luca Rinaldini fotografo
Luca Rinaldini è nato nel 1959 a Roma, dove vive nelle pause dei suoi viaggi di lavoro e di ricerca.
Le sue prime fotografie vengono pubblicate sull’Espresso, a cui fanno seguito quotidiani nazionali come La Repubblica, La Stampa, l’Unità e il Corriere della Sera e riviste tra cui Internazionale e Viaggi di Repubblica.
Consolida le sue esperienze professionali realizzando reportage monografici, (sia a colori che bianco/ nero), dei suoi viaggi in Asia (Vietnam, India, Cambogia, Birmania e Indonesia) e in Centro America (Messico, Guatemala, Cuba).
Successivamente realizza per Rai Educational due ampi servizi sul Buddismo In Birmania, seguendo la vita dei monaci all’interno di un monastero, e in Cambogia sui templi di Angkor Wat.
Dal 1991 al 1997 concentra il suo lavoro sul Viet Nam. e maggio del 1995 realizza la sua prima mostra fotografica e il catalogo Volti e Genti del Vietnam. Partita da Roma, con il patrocinio del Comune, la mostra è stata allestita anche a Venezia (settembre `97) a Milano (ottobre `95) e Torino (aprile `98).
Nel giugno del 1994 diventa fotografo professionista.
Nel giugno 1997, in collaborazione con il giornalista Giancarlo Monterisi ha scritto, per la collana Clup Guide della Utet, la guida Vietnam, Laos e Cambogia.
Tra il 1997/2003 ha collaborato con diversi fotografi nel campo della moda e del costume ma non ha smesso i reportage di viaggio pubblicati da numerosi settimanali (Grazia, Gioia, Gulliver, Io Donna, ecc.).
Nel 2004 viene menzionato tra i primi 10 al concorso internazionale sul riso indetto dalla FAO (IYR 2004).
Dal 2003 e il 2004 è impegnato in Brasile nel Progetto cacao. Un viaggio fotografico nelle piantagioni dello Stato di Bahia, alla riscoperta dei luoghi e dei personaggi descritti dallo scrittore brasiliano Jorge Amado, che diventa un libro edito da Fabula.
Il progetto è stato selezionato ed ha partecipato all’edizione 2006 del Festival Internazionale della fotografia di Roma (aprile/maggio). L’esposizione delle opere si è tenuta presso l’ambasciata del Brasile a Piazza Navona dal 12 aprile al 10 maggio 2006 ( www.fotografiafestival.it).
Nel 2007 la mostra fotografica è stata presente a Parigi, nell’ambito de Salon Du Chiocolat 2007 e nell’ottobre a Brasilia per il festival Fotoartebrasilia, presso l’ambasciata d’Italia in Brasile.
Luca Rinaldini was born in Rome in 1959, where he now lives between voyages practising the profession of photography. From his father, a journalist specialized in Asia, he inherited his curiosity and desire to travel. Photography, which began simply as an amateur passion became more and more of a professional aspiration. He started to follow the footsteps of some great artists who had always fascinated him: from Cartier-Bresson to Donald Mc Cullin, from Robert Capa to Salgado. His first photographs were sold to L’ Espresso then to national newspaper such as La Repubblica, La Stampa, l’ Unità e il Corriere della Sera and magazines such as Internazionale, Viaggi di Repubblica and Gulliver, Io Donna, Lo Specchio, Grazia.
Over the years he has specialized in monographic photo essays both in color and black and white, principally on his trips to Asia (India, Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia) and Central and South America (Cuba, Mexico, Guatemala and Brazil). He did some shoots for RAI Educational (Italian public television) on Buddhism in Burma, following monks lives in a monastery and on Angkor Wat temples in Cambodia.
Since 1991 his work has focused on Vietnam. During his first voyage crossed the country, from the Chinese border to the marshes of the Mekong delta using various means of transport (motorbike, bus, boats)He fixed images of reality suspended in time and untouched by mass tourism. In June 1994 he became a professional photographer, in May 1995 he gave his first photographic exhibition and catalogue under the title Faces and People of Vietnam, in Rome with the support of the municipality. The exhibition was then moved to Venice (September 1997) in Milan (October 1995) and Turin (April 1998). In June 1997, together with the journalist Giancarlo Monterisi he wrote for the publishing house Utet the guide Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
Between 1997 and 2003 he collaborated with various photographer in the field of fashion and culture and continued with his travel essays which were published in several magazines(Grazia, Gioia, Gulliver; Io Donna) In 2004 he was among the first ten winners of the international competion about rice, held by FAO (IYR 2004).
From 2003 to 2004 he was in Brasil working on the “Cocoa project”: A photographic trip throughout the plantations of Bahia state in search for the places and characters described by the Brasilian writer Jorge Amado who dedicated three of his novels to the world of cocoa. The project, published also a book title “Cocoa on tracks of Jorge Amado (40 black and white pictures ) was selected and took part in the 2006 edition of the International Festival of Photography in Rome (April/May) exhibiting at the Brasilian Embassy in Piazza Navona from April 12th to May 10th. www.fotografiafestival.it, and in the festival Fotoarte Brasilia has been exposed in Italian Embassy (30oct-23nov).
